The Swedish Section of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy
Joakim Nergelius is Professor in law at the School of Law, Psychology and Social Work (JPS) at Örebro University, a position he has held since 2003. In 1996 his dissertation Konstitutionellt rättighetsskydd – Svensk rätt i ett komparativt perspektiv [Constitutional Protection of Human Rights – Swedish Law in a Comparative Perspective] earned him a LL.D. in constitutional law from Lund University where he also was appointed Associate Professor (docent) the same year. In 2002-2013 he was a member of the board of the independent litigating foundation Centrum för rättvisa [Centre for Justice].
Among other assignments, Nergelius has been employed as expert in several projects where issues in constitutional law have been on the agenda. He has also been guest lecturer at universities around Europe and delivered speeches on numerous international occasions, as well as organized a number of conferences, mostly on Swedish soil. Noteworthy among his publications are Till Västerlandets försvar – två idéessäer om nationalism, globalisering och betydelsen av värden [In Defence of the West – Two Essays on Nationalism, Globalization and the Importance of Values] (Nerenius and Santérus, 1994), Rättsfilosofi – Samhälle och moral genom tiderna [Legal Philosophy – Society and Moral in a Historical Perspective] (Studentlitteratur, 2005, 2nd ed., editor), Komparativ statsrätt [Comparative Constitutional Law] (Juristförlaget, 2012, 8th ed.), Svensk statsrätt [Swedish Constitutional Law] (Studentlitteratur, 2014, 3rd ed.), Constitutional Law in Sweden (Wolters Kluwer Law and Business, 2015, 2nd ed.) and Media Law in Sweden (Wolters Kluwer Law and Business, 2015).
