CALL FOR PAPERS:
The Finnish-Swedish PhD Conference on Legal Reasoning
Organizer: University of Helsinki, Doctoral Program in Law
Venue: Lammi Research Station, 7–8 (Fri–Sat) December 2018
The Finnish-Swedish PhD conference will bring together scholars who seeks to advance theoretical understanding of law and develop methodology of legal analysis. Finland and Sweden share similar social models, legal systems and values. For this reason, it is natural that these countries develop and deepen their cooperation in the fields of law and jurisprudence. This conference will give an opportunity for legal scholars from Finland and Sweden to strengthen their academic friendship through exchange of ideas.
The conference aims: (1) to share knowledge on what kind of research is being carried out in the field of law and jurisprudence, (2) to develop the PhD students' ideas through presentations and constructive feedback sessions. The conference is primarily targeted at doctoral students, but post-doctoral researchers and other academics are welcome to participate in the event. The official language of the conference will be English.
We invite submission for this conference on any topic in the areas of theory of law and jurisprudence. Legal scholars are warmly welcome to present theoretical or methodological challenges of their dissertations. You can submit your research abstract of no more than 150 words via our online form: https://elomake.helsinki.fi/lomakkeet/90735/lomake.html. The final decisions on the proposals will be made by 8th October at the latest. Submission deadline for complete papers is 7 November 2018.
The Doctoral Program in Law will cover the accommodation and dining expenses for all the participants. The organizer will arrange a bus service from the center of Helsinki to the Lammi Research Station. The Friday evening will leave plenty of time for informal discussion on possible future Finnish-Swedish cooperation.
